Throw Me Out 05:28
So you say you've had enough So you say you want me out So you say I waste my time with all my friends So you say that you don't care and we're not going anywhere and we're really too far gone to just pretend So you say that I'm so bad, but I'm the best you ever had You better think before you kick me to the curb I don't smoke, I don't drink I don't cheat on you with any of your friends But I guess there's something else that must disturb I beg you now to really think about the kids They're the ones who will finally lose through all of this But when you in the end finally force me out I'll be much better off - of that there is no doubt You want to keep me under your thumb You want to say just how and when You want the power to control my entire life Well you better think again If you make me leave today You know that I'll be gone for good You really think I'm gonna come crawling back I can't believe you'd think I would ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Copyright © 2020 David M. Now I'm in my inner sanctum I've been exiled out of hell I'm fairly safe in my own world it's quiet here as well No more nightly arguments No more nasty thoughts After 15 years of wasted time I know it was all for naught Well I work our hard most every day to cleanse my body and my soul The last few years have been so hard She's really taken a toll She probably thought that I'd be sad Come back begging, on my knees I'll die before I'd go back there I'm happy to be free. Feeling stronger lasting longer every single day life will lengthen heart will strengthen found a better way Now I'm in my inner sanctum I've been exiled out of hell I'm feelin' safe in my own world as far as I can tell It's nice to see my good old friend in the mirror once again Now I know I've found myself I'm happy to be me ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Copyright © 2020 David M. I found you in cyberspace In early December How many profiles I'd looked at I just don't remember I was having no luck; My e-mails too wordy So I widened my search Dropped the age down to thirty When your picture came up It was a quite a surprise A sweet little honey Golden hair and green eyes So the years have gone by Now our ages don't matter We're just perfect together And were climbing the ladder Robbing the Cradle We're a decade apart But that cute little blondie Has stolen my heart Robbing the Cradle Some folks might not approve But we're best friends forever And we'll stay in this groove The year I started high school Was the year of your birth Your family welcomed you Our angel on Earth When I started my first rock band You were in First Grade Nearly thirty years later Well I've got it made When I finished college I still had to wait Well I couldn't touch you Cause you were jailbait So the years have gone by Now our ages don't matter We're just perfect together And were climbing the ladder Robbing the Cradle We're a decade apart That cute little blondie Has stolen my heart Robbing the Cradle Our love will survive Carrying on For the rest of our lives ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Copyright © 2020 David M. "Beat Me with the Gavel (Part One)" We can work this out. We can make this fair. We don't have to bring the lawyers in You know that I still care I still care... You know that I won't screw you Don't worry I won't do you Just sign right here on this dotted line (This is only the beginning he's all mine) Don't worry it will all be fine. (I'm going to put it to you!) "Beat Me with the Gavel (Part Two)" You now have all my money so now your life is sunny Enjoy your trip to Europe I'll bet you think it's funny (I can hear you laughin') Yeah, You beat me with the gavel and now you get to travel Instead of being litigious you should be more religious (you should be in church... lighting candles... to pray for your soul) Spending my money on food and wines Spoiling the kids to believe your lines Having the most fun they ever had and they can't get a dime from their Poor Old Dad ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Copyright © 2020 David M. So it’s time to move in together and we’re hopin’ it will last forever Take a chance; and begin an adventure I’ve been waitin’ on ya baby But now we’re together Enjoy the sunny weather I’ll wear my boots made out of leather Take a chance; bring our families together We’ll be livin' on the farm, like birds of a feather Out here in this wilderness away from the city lights the eagles fly and the turkeys run and the stars shine bright at night You know we Bought the Farm My Sweet Honey you know there ain’t no cause for alarm You know Together our hearts will beat and Life out here will taste sweet We can take our time we don’t need to hurry It will turn out great you don’t need to worry This is the way it was meant to be Way Out here just you and me let the kids run wild and free it’ll work out my baby Just wait and you’ll see In this cabin in the woods we’ll be a family it’ll be so good and if the kids act as they should we’ll have a peaceful life like we knew we could You know we Bought the Farm My Sweet Honey you know there ain’t no cause for alarm You know Together our hearts will beat and Life out here will taste sweet We can take our time we don’t need to hurry It will turn out great you don’t need to worry

Cry with Me 03:40
Now we've got a brand new love And we know it's gonna last Though my world is full of hope; there's still some fear We're passing through some stormy weather From some evil in my past And she's trying hard to make us shed some tears So now we're in a battle Fighting off the Evil One And she only wants to tear us both apart And we'll work together every day Until this fight is done And you've stuck with me and gently held my heart I'm so sorry that I've cast this pain upon you She's so jealous of our love, she can't resist To try to strike out from afar Stick a knife into our hearts But no matter what she does, our love persists Come Cry with Me We will Survive and you will see The only thing that matters is holding on to you and me Together we can't lose - it's an impossibility And those who make life hard for us will see Cause together we can make it - Cry with me ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Copyright © 2020 David M. The Gauntlet 08:47
The Gauntlet Part I. Poisoned Children Part II. Surrogate Family Part III. Autumn of my Life / Life’s Mistakes Part IV. A Warning (Poisoned Children) So our hopes have been dashed, the dream has unraveled We wanted a family But half the family has traveled To a place far away I now have no others three thousand miles off the kids live with their mother They’re my poisoned children their hearts have been altered she’s turned them against me our future has faltered To my poisoned children I’ll wait for you here A decade has passed us You have nothing to fear I’m running the Gauntlet attacks from all sides I’m still on that treadmill and i’m barely alive I’m running the Gauntlet attacks from all sides I’m still on that treadmill Learning how to survive (Surrogate Family) My Surrogate Family has welcomed me in They treat me very well It’s a welcomed change; I’ve been rearranged That previous life was hell Ten years have passed as I knew they would I’ve made a life that I think is good and happy feelings are allowed I've raised her kids and of that I'm proud (and even though I've lost my own I have a family here and now and even though I'm not their Dad they love me anyhow and even though I've lost my own I have a family here and now and even though I'm not their Dad they love me anyhow (Autumn of my Life) Life used to be green and growing But now it’s dressed in Golds and Browns The aches and pains are more frequent now This old body’s breaking down Time’s running faster and faster So many precious years were lost One fatal mistake has consumed the years Feels like a doublehead was tossed I'm in the Autumn of my Life Over halfway down the road One last season left to thrive Before the Winter's cold I'm in the third lap of the race and I know there are only four And the lines upon my face they will be there forevermore And as the Sun Sets in the West It will rise up in the East One last season to do my best before my wayward soul's released I'm in the Autumn of my Life I'm still riding down that road Gonna make the most of my time Before I end up getting old (A Warning) A friendly word of warning, from one who has been burned to spare your tender virgin soul from the lessons he has learned Beware of those you encounter As you entwine your life with theirs, Make sure they have a gentle heart If not you may lose years.

about

A Modern Day Tragedy.

We have a limited time on this Earth. Every day we make decisions that can shape the next. Some choices are right and enhance our life, but other choices can be devastatingly wrong.

It took over 7 years to conceptualize, write, and record this prog album showpiece. The final few tracks, and the mastering of the entire album, occurred during the 2020 pandemic, which allowed a lot of focused time.
